Outing Sponsor Resources
Here’s a writeup on being an outing sponsor, in PDF format Sponsoring an Outing. Whenever possible, always select larger vehicles which carry more passengers, Vans and SUVs, over smaller vehicles. This will help minimize expenses.

Look under Categories, Monthly Outings for more bulletins. You may find one for the outing you’re sponsoring! Or use the search to find the bulletin if you know the outing’s title, or a word in the outing’s title. For example a search for parson will show previous bulletins for camp parsons in Monthly Outings and elsewhere.
Keep in mind older permission forms will not ask about training. Training information is needed for the Scout Tour Permit. Older permission forms do not include information about scholarships. Please don’t forget to add this to the fee section:
Scholarships are available. Contact Bill Montgomery at least 5 days prior to the outing.
If you don’t have Microsoft Word, you can get Open Office for free. It will work with MS Office documents and spreadsheets.
Scout Tour Permit, NOTE: The Aurora District is going mandatory with electronic tour permits. Tour_Permits_Instructions.pd To file a tour permit you need a “MyScouting” log in, Here.
In the meantime, they still accept fax permits. Here’s a blank District tour permit in PDF format which you can fill out then print. Local Tour Permit. You need to bring this to the Troop meeting the Monday before the outing as it needs the signature of the “Tour Leader” and “Unit of member committee” – this can be any member of the Troop Committee. The sponsor is the “Tour Leader”. For the “Assistant tour leader”, select either the Scout Master or an Assistant Scout Master- if one is going on the outing- or any another adult- this does not have to be a Scout Master or Assistant. If you are not going on the outing, you’ll need to speak with an adult who is going about being the “Tour Leader”.

Download free topological maps from USGS. USGS.gov On the left under “Topo Maps” select “Downlad”.
Some outings, such as canoe outings, require adults and scouts to have completed Safety Afloat and Safe Swim Defense. Certifications last 2 years so save your original. Please create and account and complete these on-line courses.
All parents should take the on-line course “Youth Protection Training“.
